Nylon 66.. is the price really worth it?

Nylon 66 really is a material that can provide everything required for an engineering application, it has a very high strength that can be modified (as can nylon 6) with glass fibre, mineral fillers, impact modifiers, PTFE and more and with its low water absorb nylon 66 will maintain dimensions better than nylon 6.

…Both Nylon 6 & 66 have good chemical resistance.

Nylon 66 also has a high heat resistance and can be further improved with the addition of glass fibre. Ultimately – this is where nylon 66 shines, mostly due to the high cost of the polymer…if you have a high heat application (Nylon 66 can operate in temperatures over 200c degrees) that requires high strength (such as wheels for a commercial bakery oven, under bonnet applications) then nylon 66 is certainly worth considering.
